Conduct:
It is the goal of Norristown PAL to operate a facility in which all people feel comfortable and welcome.  The conduct of our members weighs greatly on this. Keep in mind that membership in PAL is a privilege.  For this reason, Norristown PAL has adopted the following code of conduct:
  • Smoking is prohibited anywhere in the facility.

  • Profanity will not be tolerated.

  • PAL will not tolerate vandalism of PAL property or the surrounding neighborhood.

  • Fitness equipment must be used according to posted directions.

  • Fighting is prohibited.

  • Anyone appearing to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be denied access to the building.

  • No one appearing to be under the influence will be allowed to pick up a child.

  • PAL telephones are for business use only.

  • Anyone caught on site with an illegal controlled substance will be permanently expelled from the PAL center. This can be done without board approval.

  • Anyone, other than law enforcement officers, is prohibited from possessing firearms in the PAL center. Anyone bringing firearms into the facility may be reported to the police.

  • Alcohol is prohibited on premises.

  • Computers may only be used when a monitor is present.

Failure to follow the code of conduct could lead to the following:

  • Removal from facility for the day.  This will be done at the discretion of the Operations Director of his designee.

  • Temporary suspension (from 3-30 days).  This requires the approval of the Operations Director.

  • Permanent expulsion.  Any expulsion must be approved by the board after being recommended by the Operations Director.

  • With incidents involving fighting, drugs, or alcohol, PAL will assist families in finding any necessary counseling services that may be helpful.

Computer Usage Policy:
Norristown PAL will have a number of computers that will be available for use throughout the day.  Members should keep the following point in mind when suing the computers:

  • Priority will be given to children in need of help with homework.

  • Computers will not be available to members during scheduled classes.

  • PAL computers will have internet access. Accessing inappropriate or objectionable material will lead to a suspension of computer privileges. No one is permitted to use the computer center without a staff member present.
